Each of these photos is accompanied with an interview. So many incredible stories, from all across Malawi.

Videos

SolarAid

I made this film for SolarAid. In one week, in a very rural village in Ntchisi District, Malawi, we filmed 3 of these case study videos. I was producing and directing the films, getting up at 5 am and wrapping after 9 pm every day. Capturing real stories requires a lot of time, trust, and open-mindedness. These interviews were powerful and surprising. I ran the camera, edited, and composed the music as well. I hired my friend, and Chichewa teacher, Smart Bwanali to help me with the interviews. For this film I was the director, cameraperson, editor and music composer.

1 year later, after our subjects on this campaign had their solar lights, we went back, and were able to talk with those who had received the solar lamps about how their lives have changed. It was an amazing experience to go back, and spend another week in that village, and see how much more they were able to do in a day. Studying, cooking, sleeping in peace: amazing stuff.

Concern Worldwide

I took a trip down to Nsanje in hot season, and filmed this film to highlight the work that Concern Worldwide has done with gender parity through their Umodzi program! The results were simply stunning, and I was very touched by making this film. I may or may not have cried while editing this.

Malawi Mangoes

Another film I made for Malawi Mangoes, this one is a quick look at the journey a dried mango goes on from the field to packaging.

Africycle

Africycle approached me to highlight how offering their bicycles on loan to women was helpful to the communities they were working in. We shot 2 of these videos in one day. It was really an incredible experience, as I could really feel the changes that the bicycles made to these women. Also, I love bicycles.

One Acre Fund

I did everything for this video. Including the music!

I was responsible for every aspect of this one. Music too!

Austin Skerem

I made this in Mulanje, capturing this traditional music
