Day 3: Guatemalan Ice Cream, Brass, and Botany

A breakfast splurge: 48Q for this amazing breakfast with 2 cups of coffee. ($6.30)

In the morning I went for a hike up to the top of San Pedro.

I headed back to the room for sunscreen and filtered water. Cadari and I then went and got some ice cream. Rony served us, and then we talked with them for about half an hour.

He is a futbol player. He showed us a picture of him holding up a GIANT trophy. He was surprised and confused why we didn't follow professional futbol.

His wife Juanita was super sweet and couldn't stop laughing. She was also tickled pink that I wanted her to help up her choco-banana for the picture.

We then hit up the happy hour at our hotel.

Margaritas for 20Q, or essentially $2.50.

The British bartenders' son had homework that he didn't want to do.

So Lindsey briefly became a botanist.

We've found that the entrances and exits to buildings are not as obvious as they are back up. As such, we had no problem wandering into this school when we were following the sound of a chaotic brass choir.

The mexican food here has been really good. Al Pastor tacos have been a favorite. 3 tacos for 12Q, or $1.50 US.

Day 3 Morning: San Pedro at Night

Taking a night walk around San Pedro.

2.35 tuk tuk on the street

The sounds of the street were the cries of people confessing their sins in small church services, and hymns.  Many of the services we passed by were only 3 or 4 people.

Jesus fills the streets in the form of signs and wall paintings.

MOTO AT NIGHT

Traffic was much lighter, with only the occasional moto or tuk-tuk.

One thing that is kind of interesting is that I've realized I don't necessarily look American. I guess I've got a "German" vibe.

Many people understand no English, which has actually been really helpful for learning words and getting better at communicating in Español.
